Honeywell Commercial Air Products
The Performance "Benchmark"
Why Honeywell Commercial Air Cleaners Are The Industry Leader
- High efficiency particulate filters (HEPA)
- Gas phase adsorption / oxidation (CPZ)
- High volume of air moved (ACH)
- Coanda air flow pattern
- High ventilation effectiveness rate
- Forward curve blowers
- Independent from HVAC system
- Low initial cost, operation & maintenance
HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) - HEPA filters are the standard in the industry for critical environments like: hospital operating rooms, pharmaceutical and semi-conductor manufacturing as well as food processing. Honeywell has developed air cleaning products for commercial and residential buildings that use the same technology. This effectively provides the highest degree of filtration available for particle removal. Particle types can include: smoke, dust, germs, bacteria, and more.
CPZ (Activated Carbon, Potassium Permangante, Zeolite) - CPZ is a granular mix of activated carbon, potassium permanganate and zeolite blended to effectively address the gas phase portion of indoor air pollution. CPZ sorbent media reduces gases, odors and VOCs by chemically changing the compounds and binding them to the media. Our air cleaners have more pounds of effective media than other similar products.
Air Volume (Total CFM / Air Changes Per Hour / CFM Per Person) - Next, all of our air cleaners are designed to quickly and quietly move the highest amount of air possible. This was achieved to provide maximum value and performance, and minimal disruptions to work place environments. The air volume being moved is one of the most critical elements of cleaning the air. When this volume is combined with "high efficiency" reduction and collection of particulate and gaseous contaminants, a cleaner, more comfortable environment can be achieved and maintained.
Coanda Air Flow Patterns (Multiple Supply/Return Systems vs. Single Supply/Return Systems) - To achieve high collection rates, all Honeywell air cleaners utilize the Coanda airflow pattern. This airflow pattern has what ASHRAE calls a "high ventilation effectiveness rate." This means that the air not only collects contaminants effectively, but also redistributes conditioned air in a more consistent manner. This cleaned and conditioned space is now much more comfortable. Coanda airflow is defined as an airflow pattern that utilizes a combination of multiple intake and discharges to create a positive/negative pressure air relationship so as to accomplish the goal of maximum contaminant collection. This is equally as critical as the first three factors.
Forward Curved Blowers (Steep Fan Performance Curves) - To ensure maximum air volume performance from our equipment, over the life of the filter, forward curve blowers with steep fan performance curves are used. Typically, as high efficiency particulate filters collect and "load" with contaminants, the static pressure associated with the filter increased causing a reduction in airflow. However, for maximum performance, Honeywell has carefully chosen fan and motor combinations that overcome this additional static pressure. This allows the air cleaner to continue to provide the desired air volumes to meet design parameters.
Independence from the HVAC System - Honeywell's commercial air cleaners operate independent of the HVAC system and provide constant air cleaning to the space they are treating. An HVAC system will cycle on and off as heating or cooling is called for and temperatures are satisfied. In a one-hour time period, typical HVAC systems will circulate air half of that time. By cutting in half the air changes per hour that the HVAC systems was designed for, the result is 1-3 actual air changes per hour. Honeywell, as well as the American Lung Association recommend a range from 6-10 air changes per hour. Honeywell air cleaners will continually provide the required air changes.
Low Initial Cost, Operation and Maintenance - Operating Honeywell air cleaners and providing proper maintenance including filter changes is less expensive than exhausting contaminants and bringing in large amounts of outside air for dilution. Using Honeywell air cleaners can also reduce up-front HVAC equipment costs as required tons are reduced. Additionaly, the life expectancy of the HVAC system can be extended and maintenance reduced because the system does not have to work as hard and components stay cleaner. This extra work would be the result of the fact that HVAC systems are designed for thermal comfort, not air cleaning.
There simply is no other Honeywell in commercial air quality. Honeywell has led the indoor air quality field since 1959 in both the commercial and residential markets. Residential and commercial customers recognize the Honeywell brand because they consistently deliver quality, value and performance. Honeywell continually invests in product development, enabling them to provide the most technologically advanced solutions available for today's indoor air quality needs.
